Ricotta Toast and Jam

I love toast

but who doesn’t?

At the end of January I quit my full time job and jetted to L.A. to visit a friend from college. Before I got to town she called to ask me what I wanted to do, and the only thing on my “must” list was to eat the ricotta toast at Sqirl.

We waited until my last full day. We stayed out dancing until 3 A.M. the night before (which was 5 A.M. to my body still running on CST), so we didn’t leave for “breakfast” until 11, then we had to wait in line for a while. Thankfully it was a nice day, and we were too hungover to care.

I ordered the rainbow ricotta toast (with THREE house-made jams instead of one) and a tomato jam sandwich, because…carbs. The toast was one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth—creamy ricotta, tart-sweet jam, and the pillowiest milk bread of all time. I think it will stay on my “must” list for my next visit.
